Ron Campos
Professor Ronaldo Campos has over 25 years of experience in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ); 14 as a black belt. He’s been teaching BJJ for 23 years. Ron began training as a teen in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He moved to London, England in 2001, where he taught BJJ. Ron fought MMA professionally in Sweden and England, where he held the Cage Rage welterweight title. He moved to the United States in 2004. Ron opened the first Fenix Brazilian
Jiu Jitsu in Woburn, MA in 2007. There are now 4 Fenix schools located throughout New England. When time allows Ron still loves competing. He has achieved numerous wins in his career, including the 2019 Boston Open Black Belt Featherweight, Master lll Champion and 3rd place at the 2021 Pan American Championship. Since opening Fenix in 2007, Ron has trained numerous US military and law enforcement personnel from local, state and federal agencies. In 2019 he decided to take this training to the next level. That’s when Coach Ron and Coach Chris joined efforts and created Fenix Defense Tactics & Controls.
Chris Sanders
Christopher Sanders was born and raised in Massachusetts. He began his career in law enforcement in 1998 with the New York City Police Department. After graduation from the police academy, he was assigned to the Patrol Bureau of Brooklyn- North, 90 th precinct in Williamsburg Brooklyn. In 2001, Chris returned to New England, accepting a position as a police officer with the Manchester, New Hampshire Police Department. In 2007, Chris was assigned to the Juvenile Division’s C.H.A.S.E. (Child Abuse and Sexual Exploitation) Unit where he was assigned to investigate crimes of abuse against children. In 2010, Chris was assigned to the Community Policing Division acting as primary enforcement officer and community liaison for the Manchester Housing Development properties east. In 2012, Chris was promoted to the rank of sergeant and re-assigned back to patrol as a supervisor. In 2013, Chris was assigned to the Special Enforcement Division as the supervisor of the Street Crimes Unit, tasked with plain clothes enforcement of street level narcotics, vice and surveillance operations. In 2017, Chris was assigned as supervisor of the Special Investigations Unit, overseeing undercover operations. In 2020, Chris was re-assigned to the Investigations Division, Detective Unit. Chris’ primary role was oversight of criminal investigations and supervision of detectives. During his twenty-five-year career, Chris has been a member if the Manchester Police SWAT Team as the Sniper Unit Leader (2003 to 2014) and served as a Firearms Instructor, Field Training Officer, Sniper instructor and Defensive Tactics Instructor.
In 2021, Chris retired from the Manchester Police Department and works part time as the Detective Lieutenant for the Fremont, New Hampshire Police Department and teaches Drug Interdiction for Granite State Police Career Counseling Chris began training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2004 as a means of self- defense while working as a police officer. Since 2004 Chris has continued to train BJJ not only as a form of combat but also for love of the sport. Currently Chris is a 1 st degree black belt under Professor Ronaldo Campos, the founder of Fenix Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. In addition to teaching BJJ, Chris continues to teach defensive tactics to police officers around the New England area.
